In 2025, the 54th edition of IFFR is set to take place and we are looking for interns (f/m/x) to join our Content teams.
The Content division lies at the heart of IFFR, and is responsible for shaping our content strategy and curating the programming of all our public and industry-facing activities, including education work and talent development. Our mission is to deliver an enriching and diverse festival experience that resonates with audiences worldwide.

Teams within the Content Division
1. Programme Operations
- The Programme Operations team plays a pivotal role in the festival's programme research phase and operational realisation.
- Responsibilities include translating programmers' selections into the final programme, managing submissions, maintaining filmmaker and stakeholder relations, clearing screening rights, and database management.

2. Guest Relations
- Every year, IFFR warmly welcomes over 2,000 industry guests, including 300 filmmakers. The Guest Relations team plays a crucial role in bringing these guests over to Rotterdam and making sure they make the most of their time at IFFR.
- Being part of the Guest Relations team means ensuring guests have a seamless experience, coordinating their trip to Rotterdam, assisting with scheduling, and providing guidance throughout the festival.

3. IFFR Pro
- An internship at IFFR Pro is the place to learn more about organising a large event, film financing and production, sales & distribution, and setting up a network within the international film industry. You will meet with filmmakers and over 2300 industry guests, who you will make feel at home in a highly professional and warm festival environment.
- For IFFR Pro we are looking for interns for CineMart and the Pro Hub.
- Working at CineMart, IFFR Pro's co-production market, means teamwork, and you'll become an important member of the team who carries responsibility for a variety of challenging tasks, ranging from administration and hands-on to content and communication.
- IFFR Pro Hub is the place at the festival that guides filmmakers with a film in the festival selection during the presentation of their title and familiarises industry guests with the programme and our activities. We do this, among other things, with the help of mentor meetings and a programme of panels and round tables on current topics.

- CineMart internship: September 2024 to mid-February 2025 (5,5 months)
- Pro Hub internship: Mid-October / beginning November 2024 to mid-February 2025 (4 months)
4. Education
- The Education team hosts over 20,000 kids and students annually, providing diverse film programmes and educational materials. Interns support the team in both festival and year-round initiatives, assisting with programme coordination, educational outreach and impact measurement.
- For Education we are looking for interns for Impact measurement and Education support.
- With Education support you will assist in preparing and organising various educational events year-round and during the festival. This includes welcoming teachers and students at event, thinking along about themes for the education programme and helping write newsletters.
- IFFR is conducting an impact measurement of the education programme for primary and secondary schools and MBO in collaboration with Cigarbox. Through this internship you will get close insights into different ways of measuring impact by working closely with Cigarbox and executing the impact survey with schools and students.

- Impact measurement internship: 8 January to 15 March 2025 (3 months)
5. Hubert Bals Fund
- The Hubert Bals Fund (HBF) supports groundbreaking film projects, particularly from regions lacking film funding infrastructure. Collaborating closely with other industry activities, including talent development and the co-production market CineMart, the fund plays a vital role in fostering international filmmaking talent.
- Through the HBF internship you will get insights into the world of film financing while supporting the department in delivering the different support schemes for filmmakers.

- Period: September 2024 to mid-February 2025 (5.5 months)
6. Programme Research
- The IFFR festival programme is curated by our Selection committees. For IFFR 2025 we are looking for an intern to support in doing research on various aspects of the festival programme, including (but not limited to) short films, artists' moving image, and Art Directions.
- Responsibilities would include research into potential artists and filmmakers, and preparation of presenting selected works (including installations, performances and XR) at the festival. Through this internship you will therefore also gain insights into the productional aspects of presenting visual arts beyond traditional screening rooms.

- Period: August / September to end of February 2025 (6-7 months)
General internship responsibilities:
- Collaborate with team members to support the planning and execution of divisional activities.
- Assist with administrative tasks, research projects, and on-site coordination during the festival.
- Participate in team meetings, training sessions, and networking opportunities.
- Contribute creative ideas and insights to enhance the overall quality of the festival experience.
Preferred Teams:
Applicants are invited to indicate their top three preferences among the teams listed above in their cover letter. Interviews will be conducted a.o. by the respective Heads of the chosen teams to determine the best fit based on skills, interests, and career goals.
Who are we looking for?
- You are currently following a MBO, HBO or WO level education in the field of film, art or culture or event management.
- You have an affinity for IFFR and/or films and cultural events in general and are interested in broadening your knowledge of the film (festival) industry.
- You have excellent organisational and communication skills.
- You master the English language in both speech and writing. English is the main language used at IFFR - both internally and externally.
- You are a digital native: you are comfortable using computers, Google Workspace and are quick to understand how to work with new digital databases.
- You are happy to take initiative, curious and more importantly not afraid to ask questions.
- You are diligent, constructive, can handle time pressure and above all: you're a team player!
- You don't have a 9 to 5 mentality (sometimes you'll work longer days, sometimes shorter days - flexibility is a must!))
- You live in or around Rotterdam or are willing to.

Internship compensation
The compensation consists of €325 gross per month, based on a full time appointment (1 FTE).
